Damajagua: how many waterfalls should you do?
Apalo Tours · August 3, 2026

At Damajagua the number in the name is a choice, not an obligation. The park offers three routes and you decide at the entrance which one suits your group.
The seven waterfall route is the shortest, around two hours in the canyon, with jumps of one to three metres and the option to climb down instead of jumping. It works well for families with children over eight and for anyone who wants the experience without the effort.
Twelve waterfalls is the most popular option. The hike is longer and the jumps get higher, up to around five metres, but there is still a path down at almost every level.
The full twenty seven is a serious half day. It involves a steep hike of over an hour before you even reach the top, and several jumps you cannot avoid. Go for it if you are fit, comfortable in water and not afraid of heights.
Whichever you choose, guides, helmets and life jackets are always included, and the money supports the community cooperative that protects the canyon.
